  1. Yep, that did it. That not only deleted the scheduled scans but I was also able to schedule a new scan at a more convenient time. Thanks again for the help, Tobias.
  2. Thanks Tobias. I'll work on manually removing scheduled scans tonight. And thanks for info about the fix for EInvalidPointer error in next update. You're a peach.
  3. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Hello again. New problem, today. Ad-Aware crashed and shortly afterwards (about 20 min.) my computer crashed. 4. I'm running Ad-Aware Plus. I'm happy to write that I'm no longer having that problem. FYI, however, I can confirm the same findings when I did have the problem. I saw the same multiple scan results w/nearly the very same numbers involved. The memory use did indeed end only with a restart. So that's a memory leek, is it? I ask b/c it's not the only program I've had and apparently still have which does that. Must investigate further.
  5. So, it looks as though two of my Ad-Aware problems are shared by others at the forum. Thanks all for posting the details so I'can just pop my head in and write . . ."Me, too." Only one difference . . . I thought I'd try to "outsmart" the bugger. Ha! Nope, nothing smart about me what-so-ever. Instead of deleting the original scheduled scan, I've now added another that I cannot delete. That's a total of two scheduled scans that I cannot delete. Follow me so far? It gets a bit more wonky for this next part. One scan is scheduled daily, starting tomorrow (2007-07-16) at 2:10am and the second is also scheduled daily, starting tomorrow (2007-07-16) at 2:21am. I anticipate some problems as the smart scans that I've observed have taken approximately 11-12 minutes to complete. Unfortunately, I've only given it 11 minutes before it is scheduled to perform the second unwanted scan. Did I mention that there's nothing smart about me what-so-ever? Don't think there'll be anything smart about this "Smart Scan" tomorrow, either. I assume that if I don't have the computer on at the time, I can avoid problems but sooner or later, I'm gonna get it. Now, I'm skiddish about doing anything else "smart." If I reduce the tasks involved in a scan, I would expect that the scan time would be reduced as well, yes? Would it be wise to change the scan settings? If so, what settings would you recommend that I change? Do I have to write it? >>> HELP! . . . in advance. Thanks ever so much for your time. Ad-Aware Plus 2007 V7.0.1.5 Current Version 0008.0000 XP Home Edition V2000 SP2 -- Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz 2.79GHZ 512MB RAM Hard drive: 55.8GB | 35.2GB free McAfee Security Center V7.2 Build 7.2.147 -- Virus Scan V11.2 Build 11.2.124 Engine V5100.0194 -- Personal Firewall V8.2 Build 8.2.122 -- Site Advisor V2.4 Build 2.4.6066 Happy to provide more info upon request. Edit: I've noticed that when I attempt to delete the scheduled scans, I get an Application Error. I posted about this in another forum/thread before I was aware of the possible connection. Are any of you receiving an Application Error when closing Ad-Aware after attempting to delete scheduled scans?
  6. Greetings. I'm a newbie here but have been reading the boards for weeks. My earlier problems seemed to stop on their own, perhaps b/c of updates to the software? The worst problem was with aawservice.exe and Ad-Watch2007.exe both taking over memory useage. At about the same time that problem stopped, I began receiving exactly the same error message when closing Ad-Aware as MalcolmR reports. I'm still receiving it. Please advise. Thanks. Edit: I'd like to add a discovery. I only receive that Application Error when I attempt to delete the scheduled daily scan. I am not able to delete the scheduled daily scan (actually, now there's two of them). I've posted about this in another forum/thread, as have several others who are not able to delete scheduled scans. When I close Ad-Aware without attempting to delete the scheduled scan, I do not receive this Application Error. I'll also add this info: Ad-Aware Plus 2007 V7.0.1.5 Current version: 0008.0000 XP Home Edition V2000 SP2 -- Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz 2.79GHZ 512MB RAM Hard drive: 55.8GB | 35.2GB free McAfee Security Center V7.2 Build 7.2.147 -- Virus Scan V11.2 Build 11.2.124 Engine V5100.0194 McAfee Personal Firewall V8.2 Build 8.2.122 -- Site Advisor V2.4 Build 2.4.6066 Happy to provide more info upon request.
