  1. That is a GREAT idea, put me down for one also.

    1) I have taken the trouble to register to post here (I virtually never register to post anything anywhere)

    2) I refuse to use Ad-Aware 2007 or anything that looks and feels as repulsive and clunky.

(I have in fact, uninstalled and deleted it)

    3) I LOVE Ad-Aware SE

    4) Your posted price for 3 years service to Ad-Aware 2007 is $45-odd

I am prepared to pay $100 a year for continued support of Ad-aware SE

this is over 6x the asking price for the other program. Please email me

    where to send payment.

  2. One can only hope....no pray that Lavasoft will start to listen to the masses, very well stated and presented Sir, please Lavasoft pay attention.

I feel very badly for feeling I have to suggest this but.......

Not just for AAW but for numerous other similar providers (Spybot etc.etc.); the latest versions of long standing & extremely reliable programs are destroying these program's reputations as the readers/users become more & more frustrated/confused/frantic in there attempts to use new programs intended to be compatible with VISTA(s)!!!

In truth, I'm sure that it is extremely HARD to create w/Vista(s) being changed repeatedly (here come the service packs). I realize the push to Vista is horrendous & someday most will be stuck w/ it, but for now, a great percentage are & will continue to resist Vista (& IE7) due to the terror of being embroiled in a half baked OS pie.

I believe the current BEST option for the producers & the users/clients is to retain both the Older (SE1.06r) & re-write the newer AAW2007 to be specific for Vista(s) ONLY. Even a new Non-Vista specific version should times & tides require such. Businesses, en mass, are rejecting Vista & siblings for the near (3 years +) and much of your cash must flow from there.

One of the main reasons Spybot/Adaware etc. gained the huge popularity they justly deserve (beyond the FREE versions!!) was that even first month computer users could download/install/ & operate the programs easily & with confidence & with basically no computer knowledge. They didn't need to know how to delve into their C: drives, find programs folders, look inside them etc. to be & feel protected.

Sadly, even experienced, nay even highly accomplished professionals & experts, are finding that the new versions are too time consuming & troublesome to try & keep operational & are either reverting to the older (about to be unsupported)versions or abandoning the programs all together!

For a company with such a Glorious & Enviable history/record of service to the masses such as Lavasoft has been, this is a tragedy beyond compare!! Hopefully..not beyond Repair!!!

Please , for ALL our sakes, KEEP that which works and develop for the NEW OS specifically unless/until the marriage is solid as rock. I've been loyal & kept my readers & suggestion followers loyal since Win 98SE & am having extreme un-easiness about suggesting they abandon ye or endure more head-aches than I or they can/wish to suffer!

Stop the hemorrhaging NOW before any more harm is done: Announce that you will continue to update SE106r for at least a few more years or until newer version suitable for legacy OS's is equally reliable. The cost is minimal compared to the destruction of a fine reputation so richly deserved! Sincerely Yours, Sandy. ;):)

  3. Does anyone know why Ad-Aware 2007 Free starts this as a service (aawservice.exe = 26.540Kb) and why it is running all the time after the scan? It has no real time monitoring so seems kind of unnecessary to me.

    My sistem:

    Windows XP SP2

    NOD32 2.70.39

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite 7.0.337.000

    Ad-Aware 2007 Free 7.0.22

    All updated.

    Thanks for your time.

You are not the only one to have asked this question, and as per usual you will get a reply asking for all sorts of information (just to keep you busy), after supplying the information they will put their usual spin on it (the programme needs to do this because of the NEW emerging threats it has to start as a service) but as many people have pointed out that PLENTY of other similar software suppliers don't go down this path and are not having the same problems, anyway they don't need to do it this way for the reasons stated, and they wont tell you why they chose this either.

  4. kevscs,

In your own Topic Refund, you said:

That was 3 hours after (and directly below) arcane's post (on 24 July), that he/she had received a refund without any problems:

If your refund hadn't arrived within the 30 days, then I would presume that you replied to that Support email asking what was going on.

When I advise patience, I mean wait a week, or maybe two - not months :)

Much as we volunteers would like to help resolve any/all frustration being expressed here, we have absolutely no access to your license data or account details - only Support, being actual Lavasoft staff, can access that.

    Regards,

    Spike

If you want ot start quoteing previous emails, how about doing it right, and go back further and find the the email requesting HELP, when there was no answer I then requested a refund, and am STILL waiting for an OFFICAL attempt to do so, support and or the accounts dept has fallen off the end of the planet.

  5. Hey guys, so I reformatted recently, and installed windows fresh. I've run all the updates (well, excluding one for my integrated vid card which crashes the system). So feel free to think of this as a Windows XP SP2 system that's current on it's updates.

Now, I figured I didn't want to let things go for too long before changing my firewall away from the standard windows firewall, but admittedly this computer has been in use for about two weeks on this fresh install, and has been running windows firewall. So thinking I was about to install this far better firewall I trust far more, I go to turn it off, and discover that I can't. The radio buttons next to the "On (recommended)" and "Off (not recommended)" have been disabled, with On still selected.

I've done a few things with it in the time this install has been in use, and never saw that. I noticed one more addition as well ... "For your security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy" up at the top of the WF settings. Additionally, I can't control what network connections it's active for. I thought group policy was used for system administrators maintaining multiple machines, but had no clue really, so looked at the Help and Support bit of windows ... only to find that articles on it tell me that it's not a part of my OS, so it's missing from the help.

So how do I turn off the firewall, preferably not by crippling it, and are there other things that group policy is limiting my control of? Can any other such limitations be resolved? I saw a few threads in here that looked similar, but links talking about using the group policy controls do me no good as I can't find any such controls, and my documentation says group policy isn't in my OS.

Thanks for any help, it'll be greatly appreciated! :)

    Win XP Home SP2

Yes, the computer in question in a dell, darn. If any other system info is needed, let me know.

Crash and Burn the system and rebuild using the Windows Disc, not the Dell Recovery disk.

  6. Paid for AdAwarePlus by credit card on order #142201135 August 2, 2007

No license key was ever sent

No actual replies from customer support, only that they got email

    Only free AdAware would install

    Sucker born every minute

I have successfully used AdAware SE Plus since 2003

    Just out of luck

I guess Consumer Reports is right

You think that is bad wait until you ask for a REFUND, good luck.

  7. i agree wholeheartedly with your comments, in this day and age there is not one program available that can afford complete protection on its own and everyone should have several levels of protection. :) polygon

I have been running "SE" for years in partnership with an Antivirus programme, "SE" managed to keep my computer clean and it managed to, cleanup, after a lot of other programmes that pretended to do the job, on other peoples computers that were brought to me for help, can't say enough good things about "SE", it was good enough for me on it's own, but you can shove "2007" where the sun don't shine.

  8. This was sent via the support feature on the members website also:

I have asked for help & support on here and via your support forums with no result.

I am now asking for a full refund of my money as the product does not work and is not of sound quality. Basically it does not work properly.

I refer to the below law:

    Distance Selling Regulations

Distance selling means selling and buying by phone, mail order, via the Internet or digital TV. Such transactions are covered generally by normal buying and selling legislation, but they are also covered by special Distance Selling Regulations.

Distance Selling Regulations give protection to consumers who shop by phone, mail order, via the Internet or digital TV: The protection includes:

    • The right to receive clear information about goods and services before deciding to buy;

    • Confirmation of this information in writing;

    • A cooling off period of seven working days in which the consumer can withdraw from the contract;

    • Protection from credit card fraud.

    and:

Sale of Goods Act Quick Facts

Subject: Sale of Goods Act, Faulty Goods.

Relevant or Related Legislation: Sale of Goods Act 1979. Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994. The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002.

    Key Facts:

    • Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

    • Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.

    • Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

I have asked for this refund within 7 days of delivery

GOOD LUCK, I was emailed and told that a refund would be forthcoming, that was over 5 weeks ago.

  9. I will be asking for a return of my money soon. I purchased AdAware 2007 Plus on July 10th and still do not have access to the Plus features. Normal registration methods did not work, and after several e-mails to and from tech support, I was finally sent an Unlock Code. I entered the code into the proper line in "Registration", Clicked "OK", and got a "thank you for registering" message. I shut down and re-started AdAware, but there is no difference in what the software offers. The "Connect" button for AdWatch does not work. Selections I make in "settings" for AdWatch need to be re-set each time it is started. I cannot get either AdAware or AdWatch to start with windows, and the registration box is still asking me to "Register" instead of "Renew". I really liked AdAware SE, and would gladly go back to using it if I could get updates for it. Not much more I can say except that I have software that does not register, does not operate correctly, and during this fiasco my system is at risk.

If it is not doing the basocs what else is it not doing ?

  10. I purchased AdAware 2007 Professional on 08/06/07, had the same problems as everyone else including NO response from "support", requested a refund on 13/06/07, on the 14/06/07 I was emailed and told a refund will be issued, it may take up to 30 days, well guys that time has been and gone, and I am now being charged interset on my credit card purchase, it would seem that Lavasoft does not deliver on any of thier statements, is anyone else having this same issue ?

Has no one else sought a refund ?

Am I the only one ?
