  1. Hi, We haven't seen this error before and as Ad Astra mentions it could be caused by having more than one firewall running. I've replied to your email asking for more information on other security software running on the system and if the password protection is enabled. As we have being in contact by email also, it is easier if we try further troubleshooting through email to get this resolved for you asap. Kind Regards, John - Lavasoft Support.

  4. The issue with the updated definitions file has been resolved. Please follow the instructions below to delete the corrupt definitions file, and restart your computer. First you need to delete the broken definitions file. Location: (2000, XP) - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft \Ad-Aware\core.aawdef Location Vista: (Vista) - C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft \Ad-Aware\ core.aawdef N.B. You will need to be configured to view hidden files and folders to find these locations, XP and Vista. Then restart the computer and restart Ad-Aware. Instead of restarting your computer, you can also restart the Ad-Aware service manually after you delete the corrupt def file. 1. Go to the start menu, click 'Run...' and type 'services.msc' 2. In the services window, locate 'Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service', select it and click 'Stop' 3. When the service is stopped, click 'Start' 4. Start Ad-Aware again. Kind Regards, John - Lavasoft Edit. 20th March 09. Added hidden folders N.B. Casey EDIT: 3rd May 2009. Added full name of service - Spike
  5. Hi akijione, This does seem strange that the license was just valid for one day. Where did you download the installation file from? Have you had the personal firewall installed on the system before? You can un-install the program, by going to: Control panel and in add/remove programs you can remove the lavasoft personal firewall. You can also uninstall the software in windows safe mode. (You can enter Safe mode by pressing F8 when your computer is starting up and select Safe mode) Once the software is un-installed please restart the system. Kind Regards John - Lavasoft.
  6. Hi, The software should run on a 64bit system, but there does seem to be an issue with the 'shredding previous version' function. This issue will be addressed in our next version release. Regards, John - Lavasoft Support.
  7. Hi Frank93, Thanks for posting the hijackthis log, as there is no infection showing up we will try a few more steps to resolve this, I've replied to your original email to our support center. Regards John - Lavasoft Support.
  8. Hi, Thanks for posting the screenshot. Please try this as a workaround, which was successful for another post. http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=23273 The error seems to be appearing at different stages of the installation. If you can get past the language selection, on the 'license agreement' screen click 'customize installation'. You can leave the default file locations unchanged, click next and untick the option to 'Install Ad-Watch live with required driver' and click next. Once the installation is successful , try then to manually install the Ad-Watch driver by using the instructions below. For a 32bit operating system. Go to, (the default installed location) C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\drivers\32 Right click on the 'lbd.inf' file and choose install, reboot the computer. For a 64bit operating system. Go to, (the default installed location) C:\Program Files(x86)\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\drivers\64 Right click on the 'lbd.inf' file and choose install, reboot the computer. Regards John

  10. Hi, We are currently looking into the possible causes of this error message. It does seem that its an issue when installing on vista. Can you select a language from the drop down list of languages? or does the error occur before the selection? Make sure to have all the latest Microsoft updates installed. If possible please post a screen shot of the error message so we can see when/where its happening. Thanks John - Lavasoft Support.
  11. Hi, The software is vista compatible and will run on both 32bit and 64bit systems. If reinstalling the software does not replace the missing dll file, Please contact us directly through the support center http://www.lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/ , where we can assist you further to resolve this issue. (The default file location is in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lavasoft\Dlls folder.) Best Regards Lavasoft Support.
  12. Hi, The trend micro installer may prompt you to remove other security software from the system, you should be able to reinstall the Ad-Aware software once their installation is completed. We do not have any current user reports of a specific software conflict with Ad-Aware 2008. However, there could be issues when having an antivirus program actively scanning while Ad-Aware scans. The solution is to not to start two or more scans at the same time. Regards John.
  13. Hi, When did you first notice this? Click on the desktop icon to start Ad-Watch or from the Ad-Aware 2008 program click on Ad-Watch and start. You can set the Ad-Watch program to start when the system starts up. Go to the Ad-Watch settings and click 'load on windows start up' and 'start minimized' this will start Ad-Watch on start up and the Real time protection will be on. This should resolve this issue for you. Regards John

  15. Hi There does seem to be an issue viewing the log files in the browser when you change the log file path from the default location, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\logs . In settings in the log files tab click 'reset settings' to the default path, after a scan check to see if these new log files can be viewed correctly in the browser ? I've reported this to our QA and development teams to look into this further. Regards John - LS Support.
