1.
Interesting. I found the other post: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=29546 I wonder if it only works with Total Security, or just the trial version? With prior versions, the only difference between free and paid versions was that the serial number unlocked the extra features. Nothing in the product comparison chart indicates a different user interface with maximize capability. I'll ask Lavasoft it this is a bug or intentional. Are you using 8.3.0 Free, Pro, or Total Security? Also, if you installed 8.3 without uninstalling AE first, there might be some conflict. Does the GUI still say Anniversary Edition?
Thanks Visitor, I have 8.30. free. The GUI does not say anniversary edition, I did not uninstall Ad-Aware. I was offered an update via a notice in the notification ares and I simply executed from there.
2.
Nothing you can do if you're using Anniversary Edition (the forum to which this topic is posted). I read here the new version 8.3 allows maximize, but I still use AE myself.
Thanks for the reply After Ad-Aware update yesterday, I now have version 8.3. The maximize box does nothing. I need a magnifying glass to read the screen!
3. Hi, My Ad-Aware Free screen is only 6 6/8 " x 6 1/2 ". Clicking the max box in the top right does nothing. Clicking the min dash does minimize the screen. How do I increase screen size? Thanks Frank C Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2
4. Thanks Casey, My last several scans had NO errors, not even MRU's, so i didn't get the opportunity to set the system restore point. Frank C
5. Hi, I do not see the option to create a System Restore Point in the Anniversary Edition. Does it still exist? If so How do I activate it? Thanks Frank C
6. Thanks for the reply Casey I did find the twenty entries in the log. They are tracking cookies which I will block in Fire Fox. Frank C
7. Hi, My anniversary edition (free) detected 20 errors but did not display the details. How do I look at the Log file to see the details. And, Is there something I must do to get the details? Thanks Frank C
8. IBB1039, This may not help you but I was able to complete the updates by turning off the components of the AVG security suite listed here. I also had a problem updating Spybot Search and Destroy definitions. Here are the steps that I used: In AVG, I turned off the resident shield, the firewall and the Web Shield. I did not turn off the Email scanner. I was able to update Ad-Aware definitions. I then turned the disabled components back on and I was able to update the Spybot definitions With the components on, I repeated the Ad-Aware update with no problem. Perhaps you could try again with the windows firewall off. Do you have only one firewall?
9. I have the same problem and my ISP is Verizon FIOS. I cannot update Spybots definitions either. Frank C
10. Hi: My Spy sweeper was updated to Version 5.0.7 Build 1608 on Friday Aug. 18. I run all my scans on Sunday - Norton, Spybot, Spy Sweeper and Ad-Aware. As a test, I did not disable Spy Sweeper before running Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware ran to completion. Although I have not had a response to my open problem on this subject from Webroot, it seems that the problem has been fixed. I would like to learn of the experience of others on this problem. Frank C
11. Hi: At the risk of beating this topic to death - I want to post the text of the poblem report that I sent to Webroot and their reply. Now, I will patiently await a fix and, in the meantime, stop Spy Sweeper for the duration of the Ad-Aware Scan. Frank C Problem Reported to Webroot - Frank C July17 @1:59PM EST There is a conflict between the new Spy Sweeper version 5.0.5.1286 and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06 r1. If Spy Sweeper is running when an Ad-Aware scan is executed, Ad-Aware stalls on “Running Processes. If Spy Sweeper is stopped, Ad-Aware runs to completion. This did NOT occur before the latest Spy Sweeper upgrade. This has also been reported in the Lavasoft Support Forum, “Scan Freezes At Local Registry . http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?s...43&hl=freez Problem response from Webroot Tues July 18 @5:18 PM EST Solution: Unfortunately, there is a conflict preventing Ad-Aware from scanning while Spy Sweeper is running. We are in communication with Lavasoft to find a solution for the issue. In the mean time, you will simply need to shut down spy sweeper when scanning with Ad-Aware. I apologize for any inconvenience.
12. GT Wags: Don't you think that Spy Sweeper should provide the fix? Ad-Aware ran fine before their last update. Besides, we are paying for Spy Sweeper and Ad-Aware is free. I sent a problem report to Spy Sweeper Regards Frank C
13. Hi: I too encountered the scan freeze after updating Spy Sweeper to 5.0.5.1286. The freeze occurred on "Running Processes" scan. When I shut down Spy Sweeper the Ad-Aware scan ran to completion. A previous post asked how to shut down Spy Sweeper. Right click the Spy sweeper icon in the notification area (right side) of the system tray and choose shut down. Start it again from Start > All programs > Webroot > Spy Sweeper Frank C
14. Hi: I am contemplating upgrade from Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06 r1 (free version) to Ad-Aware SE Plus so that I can have Ad-Watch. I also have SpySweeper 4.5.9 build 709 and SpyBot Search and Destroy 1.4 Would this be a functional duplication? Would Ad-Aware SE Plus conflict with SpySweeper or SpyBot?
