I think you can find that information in: C:\aaw7boot.log Casey

My recommendation is Revo. It gets rid of programs which have trouble uninstalling by themselves. Removing directories etc is messy and can leave orphans in the registry. Casey

@Aslan, As @Computer Wizard stated, this is a common problem. However, I do agree with you that critical Windows files, even when infected, do not get removed. Instead Ad-Aware should try and replace the infected file or leave alone. For your future reference, if you do struggle with a situation like this again, you can download and use the Windows Recovery Console to copy another clean version of the core file (which as you know you can often find in the service pack folders). visitor has brought this issue to Lavasoft's attention for you, through a private channel, and I'm sure he will respond here if he hears anything. Unfortunately guys... I agree with you. I, personally, think that the software did need more testing before it was released. We, as beta testers, weren't even told that they had released until a few days later (I found out by someone requesting help with 8.2). There were bugs we'd reported and hadn't been fixed - even in the released version (some of which you guys have run into here). Lavasoft have emailed me about this and have apologised for the breakdown between testers and themselves - so I hope this will improve in the future. That said, I think we (yes, I am also experiencing problems with 8.2) have waited too long for some bug fixes. Personally, if they're waiting to release because there's say one bug that at the moment they're unable to fix... I'd rather they release a fix for the other bugs and then another fix later on. visitor and I have been reporting things to Lavasoft, but we've had little response to our reports and concerns. Casey

Ad-Aware 8 Problem
replied to hfabry's topic in Ad-Aware 8.x (2010 Ver) - Resolved/Inactive
Hi, Is it possible that in fact you've got the symptoms and the causes mixed up? Perhaps, when you install Ad-Aware it enables you to scan/copy. Not that when you uninstall it prevents you? What I'm hinting at is could you have malware installed which is stopping you but when Ad-Aware is installed it stops the malware? Casey -

I would recommend disabling the "Files" module of Ad-Watch - you're problem will probably be fixed. Casey

Ad-Aware 8.2 - Ad-Watch Slows System Down
replied to 's question in General support
Hi, It's a bug within the "Files" module of Ad-Watch. If you disable that component you should be fine. Lavasoft are aware of this issue and will hopefully release a fix for it soon. Casey -
I have an much older version of Ad-Aware and want to update; help?
replied to jmart35289's question in General support
Hi, If they've been quarantined for a while and you've not had any problems then you should be safe to delete the files anyway. Casey
