1. I think you can find that information in: C:\aaw7boot.log Casey
2. My recommendation is Revo. It gets rid of programs which have trouble uninstalling by themselves. Removing directories etc is messy and can leave orphans in the registry. Casey
3. @Aslan, As @Computer Wizard stated, this is a common problem. However, I do agree with you that critical Windows files, even when infected, do not get removed. Instead Ad-Aware should try and replace the infected file or leave alone. For your future reference, if you do struggle with a situation like this again, you can download and use the Windows Recovery Console to copy another clean version of the core file (which as you know you can often find in the service pack folders). visitor has brought this issue to Lavasoft's attention for you, through a private channel, and I'm sure he will respond here if he hears anything. Casey
4. Re-opened. The user states that they are not a paid user.
5. Unfortunately guys... I agree with you. I, personally, think that the software did need more testing before it was released. We, as beta testers, weren't even told that they had released until a few days later (I found out by someone requesting help with 8.2). There were bugs we'd reported and hadn't been fixed - even in the released version (some of which you guys have run into here). Lavasoft have emailed me about this and have apologised for the breakdown between testers and themselves - so I hope this will improve in the future. That said, I think we (yes, I am also experiencing problems with 8.2) have waited too long for some bug fixes. Personally, if they're waiting to release because there's say one bug that at the moment they're unable to fix... I'd rather they release a fix for the other bugs and then another fix later on. visitor and I have been reporting things to Lavasoft, but we've had little response to our reports and concerns. Casey
6. Hi, Is it possible that in fact you've got the symptoms and the causes mixed up? Perhaps, when you install Ad-Aware it enables you to scan/copy. Not that when you uninstall it prevents you? What I'm hinting at is could you have malware installed which is stopping you but when Ad-Aware is installed it stops the malware? Casey

Ad-Aware 8.2 has a lot of problems. We are currently recommending users to uninstall 8.2 with Revo (Free) and install Ad-Aware 8.1 instead. Casey
9. I would recommend disabling the "Files" module of Ad-Watch - you're problem will probably be fixed. Casey
10. Notified by PM that this issue was solved using the above workaround. We wait for a permanent fix. Will close this topic now. If you need this topic reopening, then PM any moderator. Casey
11. Hi, It's a bug within the "Files" module of Ad-Watch. If you disable that component you should be fine. Lavasoft are aware of this issue and will hopefully release a fix for it soon. Casey
12. Hi, As a paying customer you are entitled to support from the Lavasoft Support Team. You can contact them through the support center (link in signature). Casey
13. Hi, I know you have added Ad-Aware to your firewall's whitelist - but would you mind temporarily disabling the firewall just to check if Ad-Aware get's through then? Note: only disable it whilst you run the update - do not surf the web. Re-enable once you have tested. Casey
14. Hi, If they've been quarantined for a while and you've not had any problems then you should be safe to delete the files anyway. Casey
15. No problem. Since you've contacted support, I will close this topic. If you need it reopening then please PM any moderator. Casey
16.
I didn't contact the support team ... yet. Not sure how. Do I have to register for that separately?
It depends if you bought Ad-Aware online or in a store... if you bought online it should be the same as the details you used to purchase the product. If you bought in a store you will need to register here.
I just tried the Support Team page and it won't accept the same e-mail & password I use here. Is that normal? I had an issue getting a forgotten password re-issued for here. If I get one re-issued for there as well, is that going to queer the password I've acquired for here?
You're support account and the account you use here are two independent accounts - i.e. changing one will not affect the other and equally trying to use one for the other will not work. Casey
17. Hi, As a paid user you are entitled to use the support center for help from the support team? Did you ever contact them? I would recommend uninstalling AAW2008 using Revo (free) on its highest setting. I would then download Ad-Aware 8.1 from here: http://download.lavasoft.com/public/81/Ad-...nstallation.exe DO NOT click the prompt to upgrade to 8.2 - there are a few bugs in that version which Lavasoft are currently sorting out. Let me know how it goes. If it doesn't work, I suggest you contact Lavasoft support through the link in my signature. Casey
18.
Casey, the article I got was "Is It Safe to File Your Taxes Online?" http://lavasoft.com/company/newsletter/201...racking=yesmail
Cheers, visitor. That's strange though, cos in my newsletter email the link to that article is: http://link.lavasoft.com/u.d?H4Gp4z9dfnSrX_8--u1-c=821 which then forwards me to the http://lavasoft.com/company/newsletter/201...racking=yesmail address
19. Could you let me know which topic in particular? All of the ones I could see link to an address like: http://link.lavasoft.com/blah blah Casey
20. Hi, You're running 8.2 which is different to the Anniversary Edition - but don't worry I've moved your topic to the appropriate forum. What license do you have (i.e. pro/plus/free)? Also, just double check that your firewall is allowing Ad-Aware to connect to the internet. Casey
21. Hi Dylan, I'm unable to provide the answers you desire and, unfortunately, I doubt Lavasoft will read your well though-out and insightful topic. I recommend that you contact the support team to see if they can answer your questions and concerns. I will, however, post a link to this topic in our private forum to which we communicate with Lavasoft (when they read it ). Casey
22. Hi, Let's just double check something first. Are you running Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition (8.0) or Ad-Aware 8.2? If you click the About button in the Ad-Aware GUI main widow it will give you a version number. Casey
23. Hi, Try disabling the files protection module within Ad-Aware. If this does not solve your issue then, since you're a paying customer, please contact the support team through the support center. Casey
24. Hi, The files protection module is buggy at the moment. When you install you could choose not to install the Ad-Watch Live driver, however, I imagine that it was probably just a bad install, so reinstalling in itself might just sort out the problem. Casey
