1. Can you post your update.log file here? It is located at: XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Logs\ Vista and 7 - C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Logs\ /Jeff
2. Hello libran38 There seems to be an issue with installing on firefox at the moment, we are working on resolving it. I will post when it has been resolved. Thanks Jeff
3. Hello bobov If you open Ad-Aware, is the Ad-Watch icon in red? If so, the Ad-Watch driver is installed and working. If not, let me know and I will tell you how to install it manually. Thanks Jeff
4.
I did attach a screen shot but maybe it didn't get into the message. I will try again here. Thank you again for your help. Cheers, Phil
Hello Drphilx It looks like it should be working as Normal according to that screen shot... What I am thinking is, because your font size is high you cannot see the cursor when you click in that box. If you click in the box and hit backspace a bunch of times, do you see the text being deleted? Please let me know. Thanks Jeff
5. Hello Drphilx I am still not able to reproduce, could you please post a screen shot so I can see what you see? Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
6. Hello LavaJ431 We have been trying to reproduce this with the latest version of Ad-Aware and "Everything" but with no success... Can you try the latest versions of both and let me know if it is still and issue? It is possible that Everything has made a change to resolve this. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
7. Hello Drphilx Can you send a screen shot of the trouble you are having? I do not seem to be able to reproduce it... Do you mean there is no option to edit the time at all? or that when you change it, it does not change? Please let me know. Jeff - Lavasoft
8. Hello libran38 I think the loss of information is simply because you are in simple mode, there is a toggle in the bottom left corner to switch that information back on. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
9. Hello Burris The tray icon disappears during the update when Ad-Aware needs to restart, which is almost always required during an update. So, you are correct, you do not have active protection for that that. Which is why you should perform the occasional scan to make certain nothing has slipped by. Grey icon indicates that Ad-Aware is still not "fully" operational, as some of the components are still being started. When the icon tuns back to it's normal look, every component is started and running. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
10. Hello Indinera This has been updated now, please perform an update and try it again, and everything should be fine. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
11.
\hi jeff, did what you suggestted, did the update. But alas, no luck. Still have the problem. see debug log, maybe would help.
Hello sloei Could you start out doing an uninstall and reinstall of the software to see if that helps at all? Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
12. Hello scottls1 I am not sure how installing Ad-Aware could cause this to happen. It is our policy at Lavasoft not to uninstall our competitors products, as we realize that some of our users like to have multiple layers of detection. So, I can assure you, there is no functionality in Ad-Aware intended to do this. But in answer to your question, you should be able to install SWB without any issue, and use both our products. Kindest Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
13. Hey everyone We have a theory about what the issue might be, can someone who has this issue please follow the steps below: 1) Right click the Ad-Aware Tray Application and Exit Ad-Aware. 2) Browse to the directory corresponding to your OS: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Defs Vista and Win 7 c:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Defs\ 3) In this directory, delete everything but the "Extended" folder. 4) Perform an update from the start menu. 5) Start Ad-Aware and see if the issue is resolved. Please post back here if it is resolved, this will let us know if we have the right issue, so we can find a way to fix for everyone who is having the issue. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
14. Hello LavaJ431 I will put this in our bug list to look in to, it may take a bit as we have a few widespread bugs we are looking in to at the moment... Will get back when I know something. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
15. Thanks everyone Still not be able to located or reproduce the issue in how... Will keep trying and get back as soon as I have something. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
16.
speaking of the Ad-aware 9.0.6 update Jeff, can either you or CeciliaB make a new forum thread about the 9.0.6 Update and what bug fixes are included in the 9.0.6 update? All my computers have already been updated to Ad-aware version 9.0.6 a few days ago. thanks.
Hello erpguy6 The changes are for a specific issue, I have posted a thread here: Thanks Jeff
17. This update was issued to deal with Windows startup issues and freezes. However, it contains some general performance enhancements which may help and speed issue. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
18. This should be fixed with the 9.0.6 update. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
19. This should be fixed with the 9.0.6 update. Regards, Jeff
20. Hey Chris I think you are correct, this doesn't seem to be the same issue everyone else is experiencing. Probably, just a lot of things all running at once. So, I dont think the fix we posted will help you much. As for the crash you are reporting, we are going to start looking in to that now that we have resolved this issue. Everything else I have forwarded to our Product Manager for consideration. Thanks Jeff
21. Hey everyone This issue should now be resolved for you with the 9.0.6 update. Regards, Jeff
22.
Figures that I'm one of the few left... BTW, I'm also running 9.0.5 on Vista (not sure of the current release level but I've applied the most recent patches) and I don't believe I have the same issue. I use that machine much less frequently than my XP machine, though. Thanks for the information about the free version's update frequency. Does the automated update frequency depend upon when when the last update occurred or are there set days and times when updates occur? Just one more question... Should I keep posting more dumps or should I just let a sleeping dog lie? Thanks a bundle for your help and always-prompt responses, Jeff. Much appreciated.
Hey Sage The update takes place at set days and times, you can see them in the Windows Task Scheduler. There is also a backup feature, that if the defs are more then 4 days old, and update will take place as soon as the service starts. You can hang on to the dumps for now, I will get back if we need some more. Regards, Jeff
23. Hello Sage It seems you are one of the few with a crash left on this thread. The update seems to have done it for most. I will keep looking in to this one though. But your's seems to be very difficult to track down. Also, the free version only auto updates twice a week. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
24. Excellent news boss281 I am still performing some tests before I can release this update, but I will post back here once I have and then you can turn your updates back on. Regards, Jeff
25. Hello GetitFree I have forwarded this thread to our support team, it is extremely odd that they have not gotten back to you as they usually reply any weekday within 24 hours. I am sorry for any trouble you have had, and I am sure they will get on sorting it out as soon as possible. If you have requested a refund, I am sure they will honor that request. Regards, Jeff - Lavasoft
