  1. GSI-R I've been following your progress and hoping you finally have rectified the problem. Being that so many of us are having the Full Scan problem I was wondering if it is system type related. My system is running WinXP Pro SP2. I have NIS2008 installed and also use Spybot. My processor type is an AMD Athlon. My system hardware has not changed since full scans were working using AAW 2007. The issue started in late May 2008 for me. AAW 2008 has never successfully run a full scan. Smart scans have always worked. What type of system do you have and have you changed anything else recently - removed any apps or hardware - that may also explain why AAW 2008 now works for you. Could be the problem is Norton related but it did work with AAW 2007 till late May.
  2. I too am having the issue with full scans getting stuck. My system is running Win XP Pro SP2. I have NIS2008 installed. Started having the hung problem in late May with AAW 2007. I have tried both the CClear registry cleaner and Glary Registry Repair but neither have remedied the problem. I am curious as to what is being corrected within the registry to fix the problem.
  3. I and many others are still waiting for the following problem to be resolved. During a full scan Ad-Aware 2008 stops scanning files while "scanning inside archives". The CPU usage goes up to 100% and the aawservice. exe is using about 83% of the CPU. I have let this run for over five hours but the scan never completes and is hung. I have tried all the remedies recommended within this forum for this problem. Smart Scans always complete. Adaware 2007 had this problem just prior to the Adaware 2008 getting released. I've even tried bringing over known good files from another Windows XP machine where Adaware 2008 full scans do finish. The scan still freezes in the same place as shown in the attachment. I am convinced this is a Lavasoft problem. I have an older machine (AMD Athlon Thunderbird core 1.3GHZ) running WinXP SP2. My system has 768MB of memory. The aawservice service uses about 128MB of this and there is still unallocated RAM. NIS2008 is installed. Disabling NIS 2008 also has no effect. Full scans used to work with AAW 2007. I also have the Spybot installed. Uninstalling Spybot had no effect. I'm hoping Lavasoft is working on a solution but this issue has been going on since the end of May.
  4. Kim, So I have to uninstall my Norton Internet Security to get Adaware 2008 to work? Were you able to reinstall your Norton product and then get Adaware to run a full scan? I have the same problem as do many where the scan freezes when doing a full scan. I have tried all the other remedies with no success. If I have to choose between the Adaware 2008 working or having NIS 2008 installed I would of course keep the latter. Thanks, StevieP
  5. Lynz, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AdAware2008 in the manner you described. I downloaded the MS windows installer clean up tool and ran it. It found no trace of any Lavasoft installation. My NIS2008 was disabled - all security features - during the install and also during the scan. I'm still having the freeze problem during a full scan problem. Smart scans continue to work. As already stated I have Norton Internet Security 2008 installed as well as the freeware version of SpyBot S&D version 1.5.2.20. My Windows XP Professional system has SP2 installed. I've held off installing SP3 for now. My processor type is an AMD Athlon Thunderbird running at 1.3GHz. I have 768MB of RAM installed. Thanks for the help so far.
  6. I'm having problems where during a full scan the scan stops progressing and freezes while in "scanning inside archives". I have to shutdown the scan using task manager. Sometimes the system has to be shutdown since it gets locked up. All Smart scans run to completion each time. I started having this problem with AAW 2007 and replacing it with AAW 2008 did not solve the problem. I've tried all suggestions found in your forum. I have not yet installed Win XP SP3. I have installed the Express version of Visual Studio C++ and C# which are the only major piece of software I've recently added. The latest updates have NOT solved the freeze issue. I'm at version 0089.000. Thanks, StevieP
