1.
No. Nothing this time
Today I downloaded Ad=Aware again and it works. The wonders of the electronic age. Don't know what was wrong before, but glad it works now.
 2.
Hi Rowntree, Do you get any messages or crash dumps this time? http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=31296
No. Nothing this time
 3. Yesterday Ad-Aware would not update. I uninstalled the program, reinstalled it and it still will not update. The update manager flashes for a milli second and then nothing happens. This is on windows XP. Any ideas why this is happening?
 4.
Strange that no crash dump is created. Lavasoft is working with a fix for one type of crash and it should be finished rather soon. Let us hope that the fix solves your problem, too.
I hope it fixes it too. I like the program, but this is a frustrating little problem. Thanks for your assistance. Bruce
 5.
Yes, very strange. I will inform Lavasoft on Monday. Does the message mention anything more specific than just Ad-Aware, for example a file name?
The message states that Ad Aware had to close due to an error and that I should send the notice to AdAware so they can correct the problem. There is no mention of a file. Bruce
 6.
I will give this a try in a few days. Thanks
I just finished an uninstall of Webroot. This is not the conflict, because Ad Aware still wants to send the error report. Very strange.
 7.
Since there are different drivers (the deepest level of the antivirus programs) in XP and Windows 7, it might be conflicts in only one of the operating systems. It would be very nice if you could uninstall Webroot's program before trying to update Ad-Aware, just to be sure that it is a conflict with the two programs and not some other problem. Then I can inform Lavasoft about the conflict.
I will give this a try in a few days. Thanks
 8.
Do you have another antivirus program running?
Yes, Webroot Antivirus with Spysweeper, but it does not affect my laptop with Windows 7. Ad-Aware works fine there, just my pc with Windows XP has this strange happening.
 9.
Please, upload the crash dump: 1. When the crash happens, do NOT click OK or Cancel in the message box. 2. Browse to the following folder: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Crashdumps\ Vista and 7: C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Crashdumps\ 3. Copy all files located in the folder to your desktop or another folder. 4. Now you can click in the message box. 5. Upload the files to the forum by attaching them to your answer. To see how you attach files you have to answer by using the button "Add reply" and not using "Fast reply".
No files appear in Crashdumps. Therefore I can't send them. When the notice appears, it updates before I can locate the crashdump file. As I said the program will update. but why does the error report appear everytime I manually update? Also Ad Aware will not automatically update, even though the setings are correct for auto updating.
 10.
I have uninstalled many times with no positive results. However, I have not used the method you suggest. I will give it a try this afternoon. Thanks
Tried your suggestion. Unfortunately it did not work. The problem persists.
 11.
Hi Rowntree, Has you tried to uninstall following the guide http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=30850 and then install Ad-Aware again? Do you have another antivirus program running?
I have uninstalled many times with no positive results. However, I have not used the method you suggest. I will give it a try this afternoon. Thanks
 12. Every time I try to update 9.0.6 Free on my Wimdows XP I receive a message that Ad-Aware has shut down unexpectedly and has generated an error report. When I click to send the report, Ad-Aware completes its update. Why does the message keep appearing? Ad-Aware did not shut down. Also I never receive automatic updates and everything is set properly to receive them. No problems with my windows 7 computer, just the XP
 13. After following the forum for quite some time and having trouble with the original release of 8.2, I took a chance and updated 8.1 to 8.2.1 yesterday and I am pleased to report there are no problems. Everthing works as it should. It took a long time for Lavasoft to correct the problems of 8.2, but better late than never.
 14.
Hi, From my scan logs. Smart Scan (843 seconds) and (28986 items), Full Scan (9930 seconds) and (41769) had reached over (250000) before finishing and reverting to (41769). Bilby
Too many problems with 8.2. I will remove and use 8.1. 8.2 is hopeless.

I'll go over it again. Casey
Just completed a Smart Scan. Only took 46 seconds. Total objects 9957.
