I just installed the latest free version of AdAware on my laptop running Windows XP sp3. After I rebooted my laptop, a program that calls itself "Privacy Protection" opened, supposedly started a search, supposedly found the w32/blaster.worm virus on my system and insisted that I needed to activate "Privacy Protection". It would not let me open a task list or run my antivirus software (AVG) or run Ad-Aware.
I rebooted in safe mode, ran a full virus scan and a full Ad-Aware scan. No viruses were found. Ad-Aware found several items and apparently took care of them.
I rebooted normally and had the same "Privacy Protection" problem.
I've never had anything like this before. It appears to have been installed during the Ad-Aware download/installation.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
