I can't seem to find where to configure the proxy settings (address, port, login and password) in Ad-Aware. They are properly set up in IE. I used both the automatic proxy.pac configuration and a manual entry. It seems it is therefore impossible to activate or update the product/definitions.
Dear support and community, Hopefully someone can help me with the following : I'm using the command line version of adaware with great success. However after moving the installation to a box behind a proxy server, I'm no longer able to update the definitions ... It does not seem to have any way to communicate via a proxy server. I get the following error when running the command : \AdAware>AdAwareCommandLineScanner.exe --updatedefs Checking for update... Couldn't update definitions. Error: Src\DefinitionsUpdater.cpp(65): Throw in function void __cdecl AdAwareCommandLineScanner::DefinitionsUpdater::Start(void) Dynamic exception type: class boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<struct ExceptionHelper::Exception> std::exception::what: Couldn't perform update. Error: -2108 Request duration: 00:01:01.292508 I have a proxy configured in control panel / internet settings and I have also added the environment variable for http proxy .. None of these seem to be used by the update mechanism. 1. Can I get the updates manually somewhere over HTTP ? I could script some wget commands to automate this .. 2. Is there a different version of the command line scanner in the commercial version of adaware ? I dont mind paying if it gives me more ... 3. Is there any way to get the command line update mechanism to talk through a proxy (no authentication is requred, just proxy awareness) ANY help is much appreciated, I've been banging my head against this one for some time now.
