Product won't kill trojans, support ignored...can I get a refund?

Recommended Posts

I posted several days ago that my PC browser is totally inoperable due to hijacking and that Ad Aware Plus (which I paid for) finds the virus but cannot kill it. I've had to scrap that PC altogether.

It looks like a number of people have the same problem. With my post, I included a copy of my Ad Aware Plus log. I have HijackThis 2.0 installed and could also post a copy of that log, awaiting instructions from LavaSpft support.

Given the number of people that have this problem, it should be pretty much coming into focus now what the solution is - I would appreciate some direction.

I paid for my copy of Ad Aware Plus but I would be happy now to take a refund and move on to a product which the vendor will support.

I've been a customer of Lava Soft for about 5 years and I am very disappointed that my solution with your paid product is now to take my computer off-line and put it in a closet.

Please advise on either support or how I go about getting a refund.

I see people that posted way after me getting all kinds of support responses.

Thanks Mike Campbell

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but as a work around, you could try installing a different browser (firefox for example) and see if that works until you get a reply from Lavasoft support.

Thanks, that's not an option though.

I did break down and reinstall XP today on the machine so at least the trojan-related problems of a corrupt explorer.exe file have cleared up.

I'm still getting popups, the same ones everyone is noting (webbuying.com, web.tickle, etc) but the hijacking isn't so bad. I still don't trust it though.

After the reinstall, I ran Ad Aware Plus (Full Scan), Trojan Hunter and the MS Windows Defender and nothing major comes up in terms of virus. I can't tell if reinstalling the OS cured the problem though because I still get some popups. I was going to leave a browser open overnight and see how hosed I am in the morning.

It really po's me that I paid for my copy of AA and there are dozens of people using the Free Version that are getting all kinds of support replies and I got ignored. I've had a great experience with this comany over the past few years but now I'm definately writing them about getting my money back.

Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated.
