Can not get scheduled scan to remove infections

6 posts in this topic

I give up! I upgraded from Ad-Aware SE Pro to three Ad-Aware 2007 Pro licenses and I have yet to get 2007 Pro to automatically remove infections during a scheduled scan.

I have two computers with Windows XP installed, and the other with Windows 2000. I have the "Automatically remove Infection with TAI higher than" set to "3", and the "Quarantine before removal" option ON.

These are my settings...

On all three computers, nothing is quarantined and nothing is removed when the scan is automatically scheduled -- either at some predetermined time of day or scheduled to automatically run on startup.

However, using the exact same settings and not changing anything, if I run a manual scan, all detected infections are removed -- i.e. the same objects that the automatic scheduled scans failed to remove, after clicking the Remove button following the scan.

I also noticed that SE Pro would always detect "critical" objects on a daily basis and remove them. However, ever since I installed Ad-Aware 2007 Pro, not one critical object has ever been detected! How can that be?

Another couple of other things (among the multitude of others) that really bug me are: 1) when the Remove button is pressed after a manual scan, all of the "checks" for the infections that are to be removed are cleared. I re-check all of the infections and press "Remove" again, and the checks, again, get cleared and the tree-list collapses; and, 2) my "saved" settings seem to get intermittently reset to the factory defaults for no reason, so, I have to always check my settings to make sure that they were not discarded and reset. This happens on all machines.

I posted topic "Can not get scheduled scan to remove infections" at address http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=16956 on your forums a few days ago, and your response was "as a user with valid licenses you'll get an one-to-one support. Please follow the link (supportcenter ) at the end of this post."

So, I follow the link and what do I find? Now, you are asking me to re-enter my whole problem again that I originally typed into the forums -- but instead, in a tiny little box that does not even seem to handle graphics!

Why can I not get support through the forums? That is what they are for, are they not? And, how is anyone else supposed to know or learn anything if the solution is kept private and not posted in the public forums where the public can see it?

On top of that, you moved my original topic thread to "AAW 2007 Resolved /Inactive Issues closed" and closed it! Why?

Actually, this forum is for everyone who is looking for peer-to-peer help.

Yes, you're entitled to the Official Support Center help as well (which might be a little quicker for those answers you are seeking)

http://www.lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/

However, you are certainly welcome to also post here. So I've reopened this topic and merged in your original post so it can be reviewed.

Sorry for the confusion! Raziel is simply trying to get you to the official support but it's ok to post here also. It's just that our paid staff doesn't monitor these forums, so it's likely going to be a volunteer member who might be able to look at this for you.

I installed AAW2007 free version today and ran a full scan manually. The scan found various privacy objects ( all Tracking cookies) with a TAI of 3 and I selected all for removal. However, only a few of the tracking cookies were removed. Upon selecting the remaining objects and clicking on "remove", the selection box got deselected and the objects remained. I have gone through this cycle numerous times and when I click on "Finish", I am reminded that there are unhandled objects.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
