ad-aware 2008 partially in spanish

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the forum world. I Downloaded the 2008 version after prompting by the 2007 version. Everything is fine except at least half of all the words that appear on the screen are in Spanish. I tried the English setting under configurations, no change. Thinking there may be some type of corruption, I tried to un-install the program. Windows installer pops up, says that the network resource is unavailable. Also cannot remove it in add/delete programs. Anyone have any suggestions?

First try to stop the aawservice by going to windows task manager> processes tab

select all the Ad Aware related processes in the list (e.g. Ad-Aware.exe, Ad-Watch.exe) and press the End Process button

Now go to start> All Programs>Lavasoft> Ad Aware > Un-install Ad Aware and proceed with the uninstall

If your problem is not solved, post back a reply and I will try to assist you further...

Ok, I was able to end the aawservice, however it had no affect. I still get a message from windows intsaller suggesting I enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package WISDED53BOBB67C4244AE6AD6FD3C28D1EF_7_ , and a character I cannot identify that looks like half a capital C. I tried to enter it, but seeing as my keyboard doesn't contain that character, my efforts were unsuccessful. I also just realized that in add/remove programs it lists Ad-Aware 2007, not 2008.

If we can solve the Spanish language problem, we wont have to remove Ad-Aware as it seems to function perfectly while performing a smart scan. Thanks for your help.

I am having the same problem with the partial Spanish langauge in my 2008 version. When I get to the point of uninstalling, I get a message which says "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"

I am having the exact same problem as PeteMA. I also have tried uninstalling by going to the control program and using "add/remove program", but adaware does not appear in the list. In addition, I have tried used revo -- an uninstall program -- but it also doesn't recognize adaware on my computer.

I am very troubled that when you take the Spanish keys plus the failure to remove adaware I am dealing with a rogue program. Please advise.

xyon & Pete,

Try removing 2008 by using the 3rd party uninstaller, Revo. click on the option that says uninstall and remove files (or something similar).

Then try re-installing. Hopefully, that will work.

gorby,

Try downloading and installing 2008 over-the-top of the previous version. If the current version is not being detected by windows or revo, then you should be able to reinstall over it.

Let me know how you all get on, I may have to split this topic to keep on top of all your posts, so keep an eye out if I do.

Revo uninstalled ad aware 2007, then I was able to re-install 2008 over corrupted program. All is well. Thank you!
