blade81 3 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Hi Sue Looks ok now Got rid of error message?
prudence 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Hi Blade The error message is gone, but the links don't load. Whereas before when the link wouldn't load, when I closed the page down the error would occur. So no error message but no page load via link (it seems to do nothing, not even trying to load, just a black page). Any thoughts? I'm going to be away for 4 days and will catch up with this when I return. Once again, I appreciate your help. Sue
blade81 3 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Hi Does every link behave like you described or only some of them?
prudence 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Hi Blade Most links work, it's just a few that don't on certain websites and also ones in emails. Just tried to run Ad-aware and it is no long working! An error message appears, saying: System Error: 1810 has occurred. Description: Service is not online. Application is terminated. I have tried it on-line and still get the error message. Another problem is with website 'contact' links. This has been a problem for a while, but may be relevant. When I click on a 'contact us' link, I get the following error message: "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed." This started appearing a few months back. The other day I tried to update windows xp. All went well until a certain point whereby there was an error and it aborted. I'm sorry I cannot remember the error message. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Sue
prudence 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Hi Blade Just wanted to update you since my last post. I had a look in 'run' 'msconfig' and noticed that Ad-aware was not ticked!! Don't know why that should have changed. Anyway, ticked the box and Ad-aware opened. Went to run a scan, but it would not scan, say "waiting for scanner" and then a box appeared which said "Core Engine busy" and then "scanner error 5001 occurred. Scanner is busy". Thanks. blade81 3 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Hi For Adaware related issue you may get better answer by asking at correspondent Ad-Aware subforum. Email problem appears to be other than malware related. I recommend asking at Tech Support Guy Forums for help with that issue. The other day I tried to update windows xp. All went well until a certain point whereby there was an error and it aborted. I'm sorry I cannot remember the error message. It's difficult to say anything without knowing what was the update that caused the error and what the error message was. If that re-occurs note down the problematic update and exact error message. prudence 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 Hi Blade I've just tried to do windows xp update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929). The error that came up was as follows: Service Pack 3 setup could not backup registry value HKCR\.wdp,\'\'.5: access denied. Also, can you tell me what mshtml.dll is? I did a 'run' on it and an error message came up as follows: mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered. Many thanks.
