EAccessViolation on Running AAW Free 2008

Recommended Posts

I'm still unable to run AAW Free on my desktop. Runs fine on my Laptop. Laptop and desktop now both running XP Pro SP3 and latest AVG Free. Yet the desktop cannot run AAW. Downloaded latest from Lavasoft redirect to Download.com. The installation goes fine, and I reboot. But when I run AAW I still get Application Error "Exception EAccessViolation in module Ad-Aware.exe at 001DA25C. Access violation at address 005DA25C in module 'Ad-Aware.exe'. Read of address 00000418." Update manager will run and finds no updates available. Also, aawservice.exe is running.

Found a tip here to set up DEP exceptions, but did NOT fix. BTW, DEP exceptions are not needed on my laptop.

Don't know what happened to the link in my first post. It should be http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?s...amp;#entry70992

I've been on many forums, but never had to wait 10 months to get a reply...

Hi,

If you have a problem it is always best to post a new topic rather than using someone elses.

You are now, though, running 2008 and still having the same problem? Has AVG ever found an infection on your desktop computer?

Well at the time, I posted in that thread because I had the exact same error as the OP. He tried for 20 days but never got it resolved. Nor have I, even to this day.

Yes, now using AAW 2008. And AVG 8 Free has never found anything. I've disabled AVG resident shield during download and install. I've CC Cleaned between several (re)installs, and WICU has nothing leftover to clean up. I've run HiJackThis and everything is legit, no malware.

Just to check who gave you the all clean?

I'm not trained in HJT so I will try and get someone to look at that for you, but I do notice you have some other security software installed, could you try disabling thatand seeing if ad-aware works then please.

As stated before I've disabled AVG resident shield during download and install. And have a laptop running same OS and same AVG that is NOT having this problem.

Please edit, rather than reply to, posts in the HJT forum as VSAs tend to target topics with no replies.

Thanks, GoddersUK

It's been a week, nothing has been resolved. I guess I'll wait another 10 months and ask for help again.
