No USB after installing Ad-Aware

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

after installing Ad-Aware AE today the computer did a restart. Since then USB is completely deactivated after Windows starts (until then USB is fine so I can go to BIOS etc.) USB is enabled in BIOS.

Problem is USB keyboard and mouse - computer does not have PS/2, so I can't get into my XP anymore

Any suggestions or ideas what to do, and what happened ?

thank you in advance

Hi,

Can you check if the problem occurs in safemode.

If it does not then fire up device manager and check that the USB is enabled in Windows, that the drivers working etc.

It's possible in someway that the Ad-Aware driver is interfering in some way so if you can't fix it from device manager try uninstalling AAW.

Thanks,

Thank you for the reply. I already checked that, and it also happens in safemode

I solved the problem :D

It was not only that the USB was not available, but also the serial port B)

I managed to get a system recovery, booting with the XP CD and doing a system recover from the shell by hand
