madimax 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I get an infected PC and I can't go on Lavasoft web ! (I can reach some url, but not on lavasoft, avast and spybot !) So I want to load on another PC (not infected) : - the lavasoft software (set up) - the last database available and then put on the infected PC to clean it. Is it possible and if yes how to do it ? thank's in advance for your help.
4 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) Hi, Yes it is. You would download the Ad-Aware installer and the latest definition file (from here), copy them to some removable media (i.e. a USB stick, or CD) and then insert that in the other computer. Then just run the installer. However, a couple of points:

Ad-Aware 2008 is an old version, you should download Ad-Aware 8.1 from here
To install the latest definition file you need to extract the file from the zip folder you downloaded and copy it to the following folder:

Vista and 7: C:\Program Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Defs
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Defs

If Ad-Aware will not install on the infected computer, then try renaming the installer. If this fails to work, read the instructions in my signature and post a HJT log in the HJT forum for analysis.
