Ad-Aware was shut down unexpectedly and has generated an error report.

Question

I have just installed adware 8.2.0, ran a full and smart scan. After a few seconds this message appeared.

"Ad-Aware was shut down unexpectedly and has generated an error report.
By sending the error report to lavasoft you can help us
identify the problem and fix it. Click ok to send the
report (no other information will be sent) or cancel if you
prefer not to send it."

I have reinstalled the software and still no change.

Computer software is XP, Quad Core, 3gb.

I have Spybot and AVG installed too.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

Ad-Aware 8.2? Where did you download that from? Currently the latest release version is 8.1.4. Ad-Aware 8.2 is the current beta version. If you're running the beta then you should post in the beta center.

EDIT: Ah I just found it... I'll get back to you.

From the actual site

http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php

Links to http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-Free-Ant...dl&tag=top5

I was running 7. something which decided not to scan so I updated it to 8.2.0 today.

No, starts to scan then gives me an error message. Did a full, profile and smart scan.

So I take it 8.2.0 is new? Well someone better tell them it doesn't work.

I want to downgrade to the last version. Do you have a link for it?

Version 8.2.0 just gives me errors. Would like to go back to 8.1.4 till this is fixed.

Yeah it is... the strange thing is it's not even been publicized anywhere on the Lavasoft sites (inc. beta center).

I have already informed them for you and, as for a downgrade, filehippo: http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

Thanks will install that see if that helps. pretty sure I had some problems with the SE? version and the anniversary version and decided to downgrade to 7. something so hopefully this is ok. Downloading 8.1.2.0 now.

I downloaded 8.2 from download.com and had the same issue. It kept crashing every time I tried to run a scan.

I followed the link posted above (http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/) and downloaded the older version. So far it's working!

So 8.2 needs some fixing up before being released.

Same here, thanks for bringing it up, Bingo.
Funny thing is that I've searched the forums to no result, than google it and...voilà!

Also, thanks to you casey_boy for providing the link and informing them.
I must admit that I'm a little disappointed:
the update was prompted when clicking on updating from the old version, but dosn't look ready yet.

*Downgrading*

tried every thing
even a system restore cant go back
You should go to add and remove programs and remove the 8.2 version.
Then re-install this version: http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

It works then.

I also keep getting this error. I posted a screenshot of the problem -- the error box pops up twice. I made sure to run the updater and I also uninstalled/reinstalled twice and still have the same issue. I also ran my antivirus (Avast) as well as Windows Defender to make sure that malware wasn't preventing the program from running. I suppose its a bug in the program (8.2). Any ideas?

Like I've stated for the 3rd time now... you gotta:

go to add and remove programs and remove the 8.2 version.
Then re-install this version: http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

It works then.

Hi, I've got the same problems as above so was going to try to revert to the earlier version you mentioned, but the link you quoted points to version 8.2 Not 8.1

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to reinstall the OS to fix this OS....unless anyone has any better ideas..?

The prior versions are listed along the right margin.

I added this to the list of 8.2 bugs, but have you updated yesterday's 8.2 fix?
