latest version causes Windows 7 to stop responding

Recommended Posts

I recently upgraded my Adaware plus to the latest version from the notice that popped up when I ran the program.

A couple minutes after starting Windows I would get a "Not Responding" notice on any program I was running, be it firefox or windows explorer or any game. Would not be able to ctrl-alt-del, had to turn off power to recover.

Uninstalled Adaware completely and the problem disappeared.

Running Windows Vista and Trend Micro virus software, both up to date.

Hi,

Your title is "> latest version causes Windows 7 to stop responding" yet you state "Running Windows Vista"...

Anyhow, as a paid user you should contact the support center for help. Use the link in my signature and log in at the top left of the page.

I assumed Windows 7 was Windows Vista, my bad. Am using Windows 7 home premium. Will try a support center request once I get back home from work.

My windows 7 crashes and locks up too, even after reboot, i downloaded and installed the 8.2, after initial update it reboots and all seems to be ok, a popup says a new update is available, if you download it end of story, windows takes an eternity to restart and grinds to a halt, used revo in safemode to deleta all reboot and installed again, if you don't download the latest update from the popup window all runs ok(to some extent, all bugs reported are still there)

Like a twit i downloaded the update again 3 times and the same happened every time, lesson learnt.
At the moment i'm running without process watch and without network watch as it still closes my email client TheBat even though i selected allow
Not much use the way it is, definately won't buy a subscription till ita sorted

Yeah that pretty much sounds exactly like my issue. No problems at all with the older version, but updating causes problems.

Like you AdAware is not running at all. None of the process watch features running or anything. Doesnt seem like it should be effecting anything when its not running but if uninstalling it fixes the problem than it must be it.

I made a thread here myself explaining this same problem. I am running Windows 7 64-bit and it locks up when it tries to load the Ad-Aware Live!. Version 8.1 worked perfectly for me. I have only ran into problems with freezing and locking up with this new 8.2 version.

Same issue here, I uninstalled it until a fix is released, Ad-Aware 8.2 has a lot of bugs :)
Updating it does not fix this.

Running WIN7 same issues, also same problems on XP machine. Additionally, the 8.2 disables parts of McAfee (Comcast, 13.15.116 & Security Ctr 9.15.175) that it had been playing nice with before.

Ok guys,

I did some testing because I'd noticed a considerable slow down on my Windows 7 machine. I found that disabling the Files component of Ad-Watch Live helped. I know that this feature is only part of plus/pro - so if you have those versions, please try disabling that feature.

If you're running the Free version and are also experiencing this, then please try disabling Ad-Watch Live.

Let me know the outcome...

Casey

[quote name='LS thekim' post='117157' date='Feb 22 2010, 01:37 PM']This issue has been reported in our bug reporting system, bug #3511
A workaround for this is, as Casey says, to disable the Files Protection feature until we have resolved it.
