Ad-aware uninstall

4 posts in this topic

I seem to have a real problem in that I cant uninstall my old version of Ad-aware. There is no uninstall buttons to click on going into ad-aware via Start-progarams and going via My computer-change a setting there is no way I can uninstall it from there either as when I click on it the remove button does not come up. I have tried to install the new version several times but it tells me to uninstall the old version and thats some thing I'm unable to do. Has any one got any ideas as to how I can uninstall the old version so as to install the new one. Thanks for any help you can give me with this. :) Roy.

Lavasoft is currently looking into this problem. Take a look at this similar topic:

To uninstall, try WICU - Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
or Revo Free Uninstaller (revouninstaller.com) on the highest setting and after uninstall, let it remove all remnants.

WICU and Revo may not find anything to remove since the new version you tried to install partially deleted the old version, leaving you in limbo. In the topic linked above, the user manually removed everything, but was still left with legacy registry entries which prevented the new installation (see post #15 onward). After deleting those, installation finally worked.

Thanks for your help.
I'm not to computer savvy so I might wait for Lavasoft to sort it out and do it then. Thanks Roy.
