Ad-Aware was shut down unexpectedly and has generated an error report

People,

The problem "Ad-Aware was shut down unexpectedly and has generated an error report" continues with v8.3. The system is XP SP3 with Avast as the AV checker and Comodo as the firewall.

The problem occurs when you use mode smart scan. Using profile scan the scan completes. Two error message windows are produced, both with the same error.

If this is a high priority problem as the locked messages indicate, surely the problem should have been fixed by now.

now brings ad-aware 8.3 free antivirus protection, maybe you're being given this error because you have installed avast. it is not advisable to have two antivirus together Edited by bostero85

Yes, that is true if both are doing real time scans. BUT that is not the case here. And note that only one type of scan fails.

Hey there Vinograd, as you have the comodo firewall installed does the firewall include the defence+ HIPS product with it?

Sylvia49: I am having this same problem, has happened before. Why doesn't my Ad-Aware work. It was "shut down," why doesn't it come back on?! I'm a newbie ( relatively) to using a computer, but I need it desperately!. Why don't I get an answer from Lavasoft?!
