Ad-Awareadmin.exe burning up the CPU on reboot

Recommended Posts

Pentium 4 2.3 GHz.
2 GB PC2100 DDR
Asus P4P 800 MX motherboard

Ad-Aware ver. 8.3.4
AVG Free Addition 2011

On every reboot Ad-Awareadmin.exe is running my processor at 99 to 100% and can take as long as 20 minutes before restoring my system to being usable. This also pushes my CPU temperature to my near comfort zone and generally I end the process as I can not afford this time period on every start up.

Prior to this installation start up times were maybe half a minute to a minute at the very most. Not sure there is much more I can add. Facts are pretty clear I think.

I’ve enjoyed Ad-Aware over the years but I certainly can not continue to run my system like this. I appreciate any solution, advice and/or help you may be able to offer.

Cheers

Try turning off auto-update. Apparently there are a lot, and it takes a long time to install them. If this works, you can choose when to update and leave your system alone to let it finish. Hopefully that's what's causing it, as Lavasoft is working on the long update times.
