Problems with Download Guard

Recommended Posts

Java Web Start will not start with Download Guard add-in enabled. This was true for both 8.3.5 as it is for 9.0.0 Edited by raygun

Hey there raygun,

I'm sorry to hear that download Guard is preventing the J.W.S to operate, does J.W.S work if you disable the download Guard add-on?

Yes! Flawlessly.

I can also save the JNLP file to HDD - with Download Guard add-in enabled - and launch it locally.

I gots 'xamples if you needs 'em.

I noes this 'cause everybody else and their mother's uncles are havin' prollems w/the firewall and JNLP 'ceptin' me (so I be testin' and works good, last long time - I only gots prollems w/Download Guard). In general it works well ('cept for certain file download sites - which use some sort of weird download proxy thingy or sumpin').

AFAIK, its less of a resource hog than Avira Web Guard; DLG only activates for file downloads - doesn't buffer and scan the entire TCP input buffer on port 80 (or whatever); talk 'bout latency.
