False Positive

Recommended Posts

The following file in attachment contains a *.exe that is being flagged by Ad-Aware as:
Trojan.Win32.Generic.pak!cobra

Can you please confirm it is a false positive and if so, add it to your white list?
Thanks! Edited by Indinera

Hi Indinera,

The lab responsible for manual checking of files are understaffed this week due to vacations, so it will take longer time than usual (within 24 hours) to get any response from them.

Sorry, I have no idea, but you can check if the file is a false positive by uploading it at http://www.virustotal.com/

I have done this already.
I need an answer from Lavasoft because it is Lavasoft that flags it as positive.
It's been days now...

Well, Lavasoft never investigates false positives during weekends. It should be possible for you to configure Ad-Aware to ignore the file.

Thanks for the specification. I don't have Lavasoft. I'm doing this for someone else.
And it's no longer the week-end by now. O__o

It has been confirmed that it is a false positive and an update will be released as soon as possible.

Hi, I am the affected party. I've updated Ad-Aware and it still gives me that false positive.

Hi Puppet,

I just scanned the Dreamscape.exe file with the latest Ad-Aware updates but the file was not detected.

Can I ask you to update Ad-Aware and run a full scan please? If anything is detected, could you upload the log file of the scan here? If you would like a guide, you can find one here.

Regards,
