Ad-Aware free v9.5.1

Recommended Posts

I have just downloaded the latest update. during the installation process the error message "Ad-Awareadmin.exe"is unable to access the server. check your internet or firewall settings" This is happening on my laptop and desk top machines. All internet and firewall settings are fine. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

I re-booted and then the update appeared to proceed OK.

However, now, when I launch Ad-Aware from the tray icon, it prompts me to download a new version which appears to be version 9.6.

Hi sixdbs,
Yes, 9.6 has just been released. But unfortunately there is a problem with its update installer. Either you have to wait until it has been fixed or you have to uninstall 9.5 manually and install 9.6 from with the downloaded file (downloaded from inside 9.5).

I had. I just turned standard Windows Defender off

Hi cmrn,
Do you mean that you could not install Ad-Aware while Defender was running but you could when you had turned off Defender?
Since other persons also have installation problems, it would be good news for them.

Ad aware won't auto-start today, after manually opening it and updating it, I got a prompt that ad aware had to uninstall and then proceeded to update. Then I checked the version it was still 9.5.1 which was what I had before.

I guess I will have to wait until someone clarifies the Defender issue or fixes the updater for 9.6 before attempting anything else....

Hi everybody,
To you that cannot update Ad-Aware automatically to version 9.6:
Please uninstall version 9.5 manually and then install version 9.6.
Until Ad-Aware 9.6 is available at the usual download sites, for example http://download.cnet...4-10045910.html it is possible to download it here: http://free.lavasoft...ankYou.aspxthis
Please, check that C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware folder is removed before you install 9.6.
The problem with the automatic update will take some time to fix since it is a problem that involves "Windows Installer", which is included in Windows.
