Will a quick scan catch malware?

Recommended Posts

Hi bishvabis,

Ad-Aware will detect malicious files during quick scan, but it checks more files during full scan.
It is, of course, impossible to say that Ad-Aware, or any other anti-virus/anti-malware program, will detect those malicious files that are in your computer.

The most common reasons for a hacked account is not spyware but that someone has guessed, maybe after thousands of trials, the password to the account or that a web site has been hacked and someone has been able to get all passwords used at that web site.

Possible, but not too likely if the malware is well written or "undetectable". No anti-virus program is 100%, and most have a catch rate of about 80-90%. If you want to be sure (have peace of mind) you should find a local computer professional to come over and check your PC for malware.

Since you had a hacked online account, I wouldn't "trust" anti-virus software 100%. Once installed ojn your pc, most well written malware circumvents security software. Get professional help. Some better technicians should sit down with you and help you secure your PC, give security related advice, and help you be sure it's safe to use your computer.
