Ad-Aware Game Edition trial won't update!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying out Ad-Aware Game Edition 30-Day trial, it looks interesting but first want to make sure it works okay before purchasing. And you never guessed it, running into the seemingly well-known update error: "Connection Error: Check Settings." Well, I tried what the FAQ says of Lavasoft support, but to no avail, putting the mentioned files to compatability mode doesn't help, also starting the updater from the start menu doesn't help and I checked the services thingy in the admin tools, it was already on. Can anyone help? As I'm not buying software that isn't working properly.

Edit: Log reports:

Hi Hionimi,

As far as I know, Ad-Aware Game Edition was released in 2009 and is no longer supported by Lavasoft. You should use the latest version of Ad-Aware instead. Ad-Aware version 9 has built-in functions for not displaying notifications when you are running full-screen applications, for example games.

I have talked to my contact person at Lavasoft and there seems to be a mistake that Game Edition is still in the store and available as a trial. He is glad that you wrote it here so it can be corrected. Everyone that has bought Game Edition has received an upgrade to Ad-Aware Pro.

This is troubling news, indeed.

I purchased a "Gaming Edition" license in December and apparently the engine/virus library hasn't been updated since then. So, basically my machine has been unprotected for months. As well, you can still buy the gaming edition on the LS website.

I read here that we are supposed to receive a free update to "Pro." How does one go about doing that? Why was this situation allowed to occur in the first place? Is my new license going to be retroactive to my original purchase date - especially considering that I was allowed to buy a "dead" product?

Please let me know.

Hi Audie,

Please, contact Lavasoft support instead of this forum with volunteers. See this post by LS Digger Barnes for links:
