CeciliaB 475 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 You are welcome, my fried Thank you for uploading Qoobox.rar, good that you know how to pack a folder. Does it include the folder c:\_OTL\Moved Files ? We don't remove any tools until the computer is normal without Babylon and other bad files. Cookies are never dangerous for the computer. The tracking cookies that Ad-Aware deletes are bad for your personal privacy. Whenever Ad-Aware thinks that something else than a cookie shall be deleted, I recommend that you change it to quarantine. All antivirus programs have false positives now and then, and it is important to be able to restore a file that was a false positive. Regarding your last post, there is a difference between threats and traces. One threat is detected and deleted, but that threat had six traces in the computer. Let us the the full report from the first scan. Find the folder C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\AntiMalware\History\ and in it are files with names constructed as .xml. Please find the one that corresponds to your first scan today and the screen shot in post #48. Open it in Notepad and paste its content into your answer. Please run DDS and paste DDS.txt into your answer.

CeciliaB 475 Report post Posted August 1, 2012 Please, pack the folder C:\_OTL\Moved Files and attach to your other topic. All the files that Ad-Aware found was files that already had been taken care of by ComboFix and placed into its quarantine. 1. UAC (User Account Control) is rather good at stopping infections, at least it will usually put up a prompt so you have the possibility to stop it. Open "User Account Control Settings" by clicking the Start button, and then clicking "Control Panel". In the search box, type uac, and then click "Change User Account Control settings". Please, make sure the setting is on one of two two highest protections. You can read about it on http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-User-Account-Control-settings 2. I found one bad entry in DDS.txt that needs to be removed. Let us see if that has any effect on Babylon. Close all programs including antivirus programs and other similar programs. Otherwise they might stop OTL. How? See http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html Start the program OTL. Copy all the lines in the box:
:OTL mExplorerRun: [63726] C:\PROGRA~3\LOCALS~1\Temp\mswartzai.cmd :Files C:\Program Files (x86)\BabylonToolbar :Commands [CREATERESTOREPOINT] [EMPTYTEMP] [REBOOT]
Paste them into the field Custom Scans/Fixes. Click on Run Fix. If you are asked to restart the computer do that. Notepad will pop-up with a log. Copy it and paste it into your answer. If it is not pop-upped, you can find it in the folder c:\_OTL\Moved Files and its name contains the date and time for when OTL was run. Be sure that antivirus programs etc. are active before connecting to internet. 3. Run DDS again and post DDS.txt. 4. If you still find Babylon in Internet Explorer, please make a screen shot of it and attach it to your answer. You can, for example, use Snipping Tool that is included in Windows 7 to make the screen shot.

CeciliaB 475 Report post Posted August 1, 2012 Sorry, mixed up the logs. One more try. 1. Close all programs including antivirus programs and other similar programs. Otherwise they might stop OTL. How? See http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html Start the program OTL. Copy all the lines in the box:
:OTL O6 - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run: 63726 = C:\PROGRA~3\LOCALS~1\Temp\mswartzai.cmd :Commands [CREATERESTOREPOINT] [REBOOT]
2. Control Panel - Internet Options Please, check the settings on General tab (the first one) for start page and search providers. Also the settings for tabs: "When a new tab is opened, open". If you see anything that refers to Babylon, remove it. Restart Internet Explorer and check again. If you still see Babylon, open "Internet Options" again and on the "Advanced" tab select to restore all settings. After that you have to enter your wanted start page and other settings you have changed again. Maybe time to update Internet Explorer to version 9 too.
kenanorhan 1 Report post Posted August 1, 2012 IE 9 is fine there is no babylon anymore and here is the OTl result... This time is too short. What you think is it normal? ========== OTL ========== Registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run\\63726 deleted successfully. ========== COMMANDS ========== Restore point Set: OTL Restore Point OTL by OldTimer - Version 3.2.55.0 log created on 08012012_221154
CeciliaB 475 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 Great! Time for final clean-up. 1. Removal of ComboFix and all system restore points since they might be infected. Press Windows-key + R Copy and paste this line: ComboFix /Uninstall Note the space before / Click on OK. 2. Removal of tools Start OTL program. Click the CleanUp! button. Select Yes when asked "Begin cleanup process". If you are asked to reboot, select Yes. If any logs remain on the computer you can remove them. Any tools left? 3. Improve the security in the computer It is very important to keep Windows and all programs updated. Old versions of, for example, Adobe Reader and Flash often have known vulnerabilities and if you have them it is very easy for a web page to infect the computer. To help you with keeping everything updated you can use the program Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI). CeciliaB 475 Report post Posted August 3, 2012 Please, download ComboFix again and save it on the desktop (not in a folder). Run ComboFix. Restart computer. Try to uninstall ComboFix again according to previous instruction.
