Hi sinan,

When the Ad-Aware installation program detects that you have AVG installed, it will only install the on-demand version of Ad-Aware. See http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/32963-ad-aware-104-released/

In Vista and Windows 7 the installation log is stored in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp and in XP in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp. Its name starts with "MSI". If you have several files starting with "MSI", please check the date and time of the files to find the correct one. You can paste the content of the log into your answer or attach the file to your answer.

Note that some of the folders are hidden, why you need to select to show hidden files, see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html for a description.

Hi CeciliaB.

Setup did not install any ad-aware.

I am not sure this is a good or silly question, Is it possible to replace this one with avg free edition ?.

If yes or no I will need information and comparsion.

Thanks.

Hi sinan,

You are welcome :)

Sorry, I meant that Ad-Aware installation program should have installed the on-demand version of Ad-Aware. Please, try to find the log file. Someone at Lavasoft can read it and see if they can understand why the failure occurred and how it should be circumvented.

The combination of the on-demand version of Ad-Aware and AVG should be good and they will together detect more malicious files than only one of them would. Or do you mean that you want to replace AVG with Ad-Aware?
