WUSB54GSC.exe error

Recommended Posts

I keep having this error on my computer. Every time I start it up, it works for about 2 minutes, then pops up and tells me WUSB54GSC.exe has encountered an error and needs to close. So then my internet connectivity cuts out. It's frustrating.

Attached are the DDS files. I tried updating Ad-Aware, but it keeps saying it's encountering a problem and won't update. I've also run scans through Registry Mechanic and I clean the system, but when I restart, the problems come back. Not sure what to do.

One solution I came across was to delete the Linksys program file, and reinstall using a different port. I have the wireless adapter plugged into a USB port on the front of the computer, but I'm concerned that if I uninstall, just plugging that into a different port won't do anything since I don't know where the installation cd is.

Hi RoyalSean,

If you mean that you deleted the wireless adapter in Device Manager, I suggest that you do a system restore to a restore point created before the deletion, to get it back.

I can't see anything malicious in your logs.

I recommend you to uninstall "Incredibar Toolbar on IE" due to http://www.systemlookup.com/CLSID/74601-incredibar_dll.html

"PC Cleaners" program has bad reputation according to http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/pc-cleaners.com

Using such programs can lead to the problem you describe.

You have old versions of several programs, which have known vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities can be exploited by web page to very easy infect the computer. I strongly recommend you to use Secunias Software Inspector to find and update these old versions with vulnerabilities.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/detect-vulnerable-programs-with-secunia-psi/ describes how to install and use the program.

With every new version of an antivirus program, new features for detecting and removing the latest types of malicious files are added. Your "Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus" seems to be version 7, but the latest is 9.1. I recommend you to install the latest version instead.
