Cannot completely remove WebCompanion

Question

Some shareware program installed WebCompanion.

I have unistalled the application but I have noticed some crash caused by LavasoftTcpService64.dll also after the unistallation.

I have tried to search in regedit and Webcompanion has leaved tons of keys and if I try to delete LavasoftTcpService64.dll get a message that says me that the file is used in dasHost.exe

WTF

How the hell can I remove this?

I'm very tired of this software... is like a malware!!

Hello, having the same issue as reported by the other two users. I have uploaded the two log files per earlier instructions. I would be very happy if you could help me as well.

Regards.

Hi rekincaid,

Please, start by following the instruction here: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/34376-solution-for-lavasofttcpservice-problem-after-uninstallation/

Did that help or do you still have any problems?

That is a shame!! Where is the support???

Is worst than a trojan.

Hi Andrea,

Not easy to uninstall a program that's running. Usually a Lavasoft employee answers here in the Web Companion forum during office hours.

But I can probably help you to remove Web Companion by using the FRST program.

Please, download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) and save it on the desktop:
For 64 bits Windows: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST64.exe
For 32 bits Windows: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST.exe

Start the FRST program.

Read the disclaimer and click Yes to accept it.
Click Scan button.
When done, FRST will create two log files, called FRST.txt and Addition.txt, on the desktop.

Please, attach them to your reply (press More Reply Options button to see how to attach files).

(It's much harder to remove malware than Web Companion.)

Hello!

I have the same problem. I have uninstalled the application but some files like LavasoftTcpService64.dll stays in System32 folder.

Help me remove Web Companion.

"(It's much harder to remove malware than Web Companion.)"

'case of "such a very good and helpfull software like Web Companion" I can'not use Epic Games Launcher and can not update Unreal Engine. I don't think that Epic Games try to launch malware on my computer :)

FRST.txt

Addition.txt

CMD: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Reboot:
and paste in Notepad. Check that no files have been split on two lines.
Save the file as fixlist.txt on the desktop.

Exit all programs.
Start FRST, please.
Click the Fix button.
Wait until the tool has finished and the computer is restarted.

It creates a log file, called Fixlog.txt, on the desktop.

Did that help?

I managed to delete some files, emptied my Bin, and then only tried to follow the guides online using windows program uninstaller, which didn't work

I found an easy work around:

  1. Right click "This PC"
  2. Click on Manage
  3. Click on "Services And Applications"
  4. Click "Services"
  5. Find anything related to Web companion on the right hand side, and Stop the activity
  6. Delete the folder (Think its the entire Lavasoft folder)

Hi FabledYak,

Please check if you've any of the folders mentioned in my post above dated September 7, 2015 since you can delete them too.
