As for the file you asked me to look for in Safe Mode, I could not find it.

The PC appears to be working fine for now. Hopefully those annoying and irritating Spyware program pop-ups don't come up again.

Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it!

Hi,Mel2711

Hmm that's odd

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

* Click the Scan for Vundo button.

* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES

* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

* When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.

* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Then come back here with a new HijackThis logfile and the vundofix.txt

Gogo

Hi HJThis.

Ran VundoFix. Just to let you know that I had run VundoFix before. The log records that run as well. This time around, VundoFix did not find any infected files.

Also, I'm unsure whether this has anything to do with the spyware. When I load a new window to access my C:\, the whole desktop refreshes and closes that new window I opened by itself. Sometimes, when I open a new Internet Explorer window, it does the same thing. Wonder if you can help with that?

Thank you HJThis.

Hi,Mel2711

View hidden files and folders:

Click Start.

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

Run HijackThis

Scan and when it finishes, put a check mark only next to these following items : (if present)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {013A653B-49A6-4f76-8B68-E4875EA6BA54} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iegiivdy.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02BD02BA-9C56-9AFB-2C53-BECE19CFEF94} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nkgxjteg.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {960FDFCD-D5B3-46FD-A825-77A2AD4785A3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtspp.dll (file missing)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winxcx32 - winxcx32.dll (file missing)

Close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open

Click Fix Checked

Close HijackThis

Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

  1. If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  3. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu will appear. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  4. Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  5. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe Mode.
  6. Login on your usual account.

If you need further assistance with Safe Mode, see Symantec

Once in Safe Mode do a file Search for these files if found delete them.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\iegiivdy.dll<----This file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\nkgxjteg.dll<----This file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtspp.dll<----This file

winxcx32.dll<----This file

Then reboot show me one more HJT logfile and feedback how is the PC doing now.

Gogo ;)
